Nugget 1: OkCupid's Algorithm Limits Your Matches With every question that you answer on the site, there are folks that essentially get removed from your search results, and you from theirs. Basically, Tinder lets you connect with people nearby. You can quickly see who is a good match for you, and the interface offers a bit more detail about the person than Tinder does.

Note any words or concepts in there that resonate with you, and write them down next to your List. Personally, I would be excited for the chance to visit a new place every few months and possibly even relocate, and a long-distance relationship would provide the perfect excuse to do that. A quick tweak to both our answers to reflect this over several weeks made a huge difference in the quality of matches almost instantly. My Review of the OkCupid Dating App

OkCupid, now owned by the corporation Match Group, is an older dating site that was around long before the creation of dating apps. OkCupid was one of the first dating sites I used several years ago, and I have used the app too, but due to the unfortunate changes the site has gone through, I don't use it anymore. The app was once a good place to meet people, but as of 2018, the app has gone downhill. This doesn't mean that OKC won't work for you, but the new changes seem to have reduced its user base a lot. Since the beginning, OkCupid always allowed you to see who viewed your profile for free, but the site removed this feature, making it available only as a paid upgrade. Most people aren't willing to pay to see who viewed their profile when other free dating apps like Plenty of Fish still offer this feature at no cost. Being able to see who viewed your profile is helpful because it's another way to meet people without having to search through as many profiles. Upon logging in, you used to be able to view the list of people who viewed you and send messages to profiles of interest. Allowing other people to see that you viewed their profile too increased chances of them messaging you. There were several times where someone saw my profile view and messaged me first. Gone are the days of creating a unique username on OkCupid for privacy. Now everyone is required to use their first name in their profile. The real name policy caused a lot of people to cancel their account. Since this new policy rolled out, the user base in my area has plummeted. Many people on dating sites, especially women, prefer using a screen name in their profile instead of their real name. Bumble and Tinder use a first name too, but profiles are verified through a Facebook profile, making them more safe and secure. OKC doesn't require Facebook to signup. Using your real name in a dating profile hinders privacy, but at least Bumble and Tinder do Facebook verification. With a first name and location though, practically anyone can use social media to find out where someone works or lives. One of the positives of OkCupid are the questions and answers in a profile that have always made the site unique. Sites like Plenty of Fish have similar profile features, but not questions and answers. When filling out your profile you'll be prompted to answer questions on various topics ranging from sex to religion. Some of the questions are bizarre and very personal though, and probably should go unanswered. But reading answers to questions people answered in their profile is a great way to learn a lot about someones interests, beliefs, dislikes, and quirks. The photo uploading tool on OKC functions much better than the one on Plenty of Fish. Pictures usually don't appear blurry, and upload without issues. You're allowed to create more than one photo album so you can upload multiple pictures. You can also connect your profile with Instagram to display even more photos. In 2017, the app added the ability to leave a comment on a photo, which I think is a positive change. If a user writes a comment on a photo in your profile, you'll receive a message notification. This is one feature not offered by other dating apps. I uninstalled the app. Some of the changes OKC made in 2017 were positive, but some have negatively impacted the app, reducing the member base. No longer being able to see who viewed your profile for free sucks. Signing up and messaging people is completely free, so it might be worth checking your area to see who's available. In my area, not many people use the site anymore after the latest changes with the real name policy. Copyright © 2018 HubPages Inc. Some of the elements OKC made in 2017 were positive, but some have negatively impacted the app, reducing the okcupid app change location base. My DoubleTake Matches Are Too Far Away. Since this new policy rolled out, the user base in my area has plummeted. DoubleTake on the app is based on a file's listed location. There are some limitations to the app but if you login on the web you can access a few more features. Overall, Tinder is a good choice for people who are a little shy. From there, you can select your Current Location, or type in another zip. I should also note mathematician Christopher McKinlay's small book,as a major factor in this process. Continue to 5 of 5 below. OKCupid will let you know when a good match is nearby.
